There’s a certain reason we’re at Dollywood’s Splash Country TODAY…today’s the day they open for daily operations for the 2016 season!
While Dollywood’s Splash Country opened their gates officially last Saturday, May 14, now families and friends can enjoy the fun every single day of summer. The water adventure park—home to RiverRush®, Tennessee’s first and only water coaster—continues to improve the guest experience as it begins its 16th season.
“We always want to treat our guests to a few surprises each season, “said Dollywood’s Splash Country General Manager, Mike Brown. “This year, we hope they notice more efficiency, more amenities and great new food options. Our team is ready for the 2016 season!”
This is good news because it’s been no secret that my only complaint about the Dollywood theme parks has been a slightly slower pace of operation, so to hear this news from Mike Brown reinforces just how much they not only listen to guest feedback, but take action upon it.
From its 2001 opening, Dollywood’s Splash Country was designed to be a uniquely themed, state-of-the-art, family water park where families could come to recharge and reconnect. It has continued to impress guests and industry experts alike, garnering national and international recognition. Among the list of accolades, Dollywood’s Splash Country has been named America’s Must-See Water Park by the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions and as one of America’s best water parks by The Travel Channel.
This season, guests can look for added value and efficiency with upgrades to the turnstiles, retreats and canopies, food locations and more family locker space.
And when all the swimming and sliding works up guests’ appetites, they can enjoy new food offerings including gourmet hot dogs from Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs®, a 1/3 lb. burger on a brioche bun, crinkle cut fries, homemade cookies from Dollywood’s Spotlight Bakery and fried dough pastries called BeaverTails®—with choose-your-own toppings!
Because my husband couldn’t join us on this trip, but we were coming up for Kariss’ orchestra performance at Dollywood yesterday, we knew the perfect way to expand our weekend was to spend the day at Dollywood’s Splash Country. Plus, after a day walking around the park, it’s a fun way to play in the sun while also recharging the batteries a little bit before driving back to Nashville.
After all, there is SO much to do at Splash Country…
Whether you love thrills like Fire Tower Falls, the state’s tallest twin speed slides; playing with the family in Bear Mountain Fire Tower®, a multi-level interactive attraction; or prefer relaxing in the Downbound Float Trip a 1,500-foot lazy river—everyone is going to love soaking up the fun at Dollywood’s Splash Country.
Daily operation continues through Sunday, August 14, while the park opens on weekends through Labor Day weekend until Sept. 5. For more information about Dollywood’s Splash Country or any of The Dollywood Company properties, please visit www.dollywood.com or call 1-800-DOLLYWOOD.
