IN MY LIFE:
I’m sorry this is the first time you’ve seen me in awhile. Our anniversary concert got rained out on Friday night, but we’ve been busy ever since. But last night I heard through the grapevine that some of my “younger” viewers were missing the Daily Dash, so who am I to disappoint?
Much to my kids’ dismay, I discovered some of their friends actually keep up with the Daily Dash and miss me when I’m not live! Who knew? I like to think I have multiple kids thanks to my kids’ friends I’ve ‘adopted’, but even more than that, I have a special place in my heart for a certain group of young women…
I’ve come to call them “The Forgotten Women”.
Having come to know Christ at the age of 25, I believe the church has a hole in its care for young women after they graduate high school and until they get married. Yet this age is when women have some of their highest potential. Instead of lamenting this fact, I’ve started a group for those very women and we meet every Wednesday night now.
So that being said, if you are under 30, I have two words for you:
- First, I want to share 1 Timothy 4:12 in case you haven’t heard it yet: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
- Second, I want you to know you are seen. Not only that, I see the best version of you. Don’t listen to the voices in your head that say you’re not pretty enough, brave enough or talented enough. To the contrary, you have been equipped for such a time as this. Just because there may not be a ‘group’ for you does not make you any less worthy or capable. Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask for help, or gather together with like-minded women for both encouragement and accountability.
I could go on and on, but for now, I’ll leave it at that. If you fall in this group, I’d love to hear from you to stand with you and pray for you!
PRAYER FOCUS: Compassionate
I will pray the same thing over you that I am praying over my women tonight: that we are compassionate to those around us, especially those that are different from us.
