IN MY LIFE
I thought I was going to have to wait until Friday to share my thoughts about Disney’s new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie…but they gave me the green light to share, share, share!
Let me tell you, I thought it was a masterpiece. I don’t feel like I’ve liked a lot of films lately, but this was a great mix of humor, action and story. Plus, it really honored fans by wrapping things up well (that’s all I’m going to say – well, that and that you need to stay until the end of the credits!).
Visually, it was stunning. There were some dark moments (literally and figuratively), but I thought it was much ‘lighter’ than the second installment, for example. Truly, the effects were breathtaking and I even screamed out loud at one point. It’s incredible what they can do with graphics now (not to mention the stunning scenery of locales from BC to Australia).
There were some jokes that were over my kids’ heads (as 11 & 12 year olds), specifically centering around a ‘horologist’ and the pirates’ insinuations of what they thought that profession really was, if you get my drift. That being said, I would wait to show it to kids 10 & under. But otherwise, we all really enjoyed it.
