IN MY LIFE
Today is my busy day, but I’m being even more thoughtful about how I’m not only spending my time at work, but also budgeting time for things that need to get done at home, including cooking.
I know I haven’t published a meal plan in awhile, but this week I’m trying new recipes for standard meals; for instance, yesterday I cooked Barbacoa roast for tacos instead of ground beef and today I’m marinating tofu in a cilantro scallion sauce instead of our traditional stir fry.
Speaking of work, I tweeted something I heard from Quincy Jones this morning:
“The dictionary is the only place you’ll find success before work.”
…and then Quincy Jones himself liked it!
I know, I know…it was probably someone else who manages his account, but I’m going to pretend it was really Quincy and that he supports my mission to educate the next generation with the wisdom and work ethic that has been dwindling since his generation.
I’m grateful I learned what I could from my father before he passed, but I constantly struggle with how to teach those same values to my own children without guilt and shame. So today, I’m grateful for his simple wisdom and pledge to live by it.
