IN MY LIFE:
I’m sad to say our sweet friends got back on the road today, but I cherished every minute they were in our home! We’ve also had unseasonably cool weather for this time of year, so even though we’re not outside much, it’s made the times we are that much more enjoyable.
Tonight we get to experience the musical phenomenon I keep hearing raves about: Waitress. Inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s beloved film, ‘Waitress’ tells the story of Jenna – a waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.
I’m especially excited because the musical was brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team, including original music and lyrics by 6-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles (“Brave,” “Love Song”). There are also two local girls cast as Jenna’s daughter, Lulu, and Goo Goo Cluster will even be selling their “Goo Goo Loves Lulu” Waitress-themed pie throughout the run of the show here in Nashville.
