In today’s Daily Dash video, December 8 2014, it was an eventful weekend that culminated with the KLove Christmas Tour followed by a trip to the ER…
The Daily Dash: December 8 2014 {Epiploic Appendagitis}
IN THE NEWS:
* William & Kate Visit NYC
* Storm in Philippines kills 20
* Fires in LA shutdown highway
IN MY LIFE:
* LOVING: Having my husband home for a day! The KLove Christmas Tour made a stop in Nashville last night, so not only did we get to see a great show that included Love & The Outcome, Christ August, Jeremy Camp and of course, Plumb, we get my honey home for a day and a half! But after the show…
* LEARNING: …about Epiploic Appendagitis. At about 11:30pm I rolled into the Williamson Med Center ER after 4 days of constant stomach pain in the same spot of my left lower abdomen. Counting my broken foot from about the same time last year, this is my second time experiencing WMC on a Sunday in December and I count not be more complimentary of the efficiency and the proficiency of their staff. After some tests and a CT Scan, they found the spot where I was experiencing pain and determined it was epiploic appendicitis – something so uncommon that the doctor treating me said that in his 20 years of practicing medicine, he only treats about 2 cases a year and has NEVER seen someone return to the ER with it a second time. In fact, they didn’t even have it in the computer to print out info for me upon discharge! It mimics the pain of appendicitis but has to do with blood vessels being twisted in the tissue. The good news is that it doesn’t require surgery and the pain and inflammation will dissipate with medication.Whew!
* DOING: I had a follow up with a local doctor this morning and I just need to lay low today because I can’t drive on the medication. So that means I won’t be giving my final today (but grateful to Kelly for filling in for me!) and hope to be back on my feet tomorrow. So you’ll find me at home resting with my family today 🙂
