IN MY LIFE:
Let me tell you, it was not easy to get home yesterday amidst rain and rush hour, but we eventually made it! (Thank God I wasn’t the one driving). After our little family getaway, it’s time to get back to work, especially since there are so few days left before the holidays.
Amidst the rush of office duties and holiday preparations, I’m trying to purpose to really take time (not just 5 minutes here and there) to slow down and listen – both to my body and to God. I’ve realized as I’ve been trying to teach my children to listen before they speak, I need to do a better job of modeling that in my own life, particularly before I make major decisions and in my own conversations with God. After all, a good relationship isn’t made from one-sided speakers.
I’m reminded of James 1:19, “Everyone should be quick to listen,slow to speak and slow to become angry…”. May we all do a better job of this, especially during this time of year.
