We’ve been waiting for months for tonight because I’m going to the Opening Night of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at TPAC! (Literally, I blocked off all my evenings for this week back in the spring when I learned it was coming to TPAC August 1-6).
Not only is this one of my favorite Disney movies of all time (truly the one that started the resurgence of Disney movie fandom that we know today), but the music is epic. In fact, “Part of Your World” was my go-to pageant/competition song back in the day, but that’s another story…
If you know anything about Disney’s live productions, it should come as no surprise that audiences of all ages are falling in love with this underwater spectacular. In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, with music by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken, it’s a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages.
I’ll be taking my daughter on a special date tonight and even if you can’t bring the entire family, I STRONGLY encourage you to grab someone special – or make it a date night with one of your kids – because this is a show you will not want to miss!
