Other Side of the Story {Daily Dash: July 12, 2023}
IN MY LIFE:
Today has been a busy day for me, with everything from getting a crown on my tooth replaced to the mundane of getting my car washed.
While at physical therapy, someone made a comment about the Rockettes while I was doing leg lifts. Someone else beside me had no idea who or what they were.
We were shocked, but it reminded me that what we take for granted may be completely unknown to someone else because of their age, experience or any number of reasons.
At Onsite, we became very close with our cohorts very quickly. But toward the end of our stay, I realized that I might not like some of these people outside of that space if I only heard about their story from someone else. (For example, if I was friends with their wife and learned they’d cheated on her).
But because we were all there showing up as our authentic selves and looking for help, we got to know about each other on such a deep level and without pretense. If we could all work a little harder to look beyond the social media profiles and what we do for work, we just might be able to connect at a deeper, more human level…and that’s better for us all.

PRAYER FOCUS: Mercy
May we all learn to exercise a little more grace, forgiveness and mercy as we try to think first of what we might not know about someone else’s story before we jump to conclusions.
