One of the biggest question Christians have is why…
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth – Job 19:25
Day 8 Devotion: Raw, Tenacious Faith
Why do bad things happen to good people?
Why do children die?
If God loves us so much, why is there so much or, poverty and hunger in the world?
While it is good to question your faith to the point where you can make it your own, it’s dangerous when you begin to question what God does. When we do that, we allow our faith to become dependent on doing rather than being.
Just as our own salvation does not depend on what we do, other then excepting Christ into our hearts, neither can our belief in God he based solely upon his actions.
Even in the midst of Job’s deepest struggles and afflictions, even as he cried out in anguish and anger, he never denounced God. He experienced a raw, tenacious face that held true no matter what God did because he believed unashamedly in who God was.
May we all be able to look past or present circumstances and focus on the God who was, who is, and forever will be.
