With all that’s been going on in our world recently, we could all use a little holiday cheer. So when my friends at Savings.com approached me with the opportunity to carry out a Macy’s Surprise gift card giveaway, I jumped at the chance!
After all, who wouldn’t want to surprise an unsuspecting shopper with a $100 Macy’s gift card just in time to help with their holiday shopping?
I’ll admit, once I was inside of Macy’s with my gift card in hand, the pressure started to build up in my heart: who would I choose? How would I know they were “the one”? Would other people watching be joyful or jealous? What if the shopper I stood behind was rude or unappreciative?
I had a hard time turning off my inner monologues while I perused every floor of my local Macy’s. I saw shoppers of every age and race doing everything from picking up their favorite makeup to finding that perfect holiday party outfit. I’m not going to lie, I wish I had a handful of gift cards to hand out. But the truth remained: I had to pick one holiday shopper to hand over the $100 gift card to.
Luckily, I’d brought my husband along to capture the event on film and he has a much better instinct than I do. As I was wandering around between shoes and jewelry, he texted me and told me to hurry upstairs to the kids’ department.
He’d spotted a man who seemed to be doing some Christmas shopping for his son and had a “good feeling” that he was the one we were supposed to bless. Watch what happened in the video below:
As you can see, Anthony was TOTALLY surprised. He told us nothing like this has EVER happened to him and he felt so blessed. Anthony has one son he was shopping for and, as you can see in the beginning of the video, he was keeping a careful eye on his total and even checking to see which coupon would save him the most money.
What we loved just as much was that the cashier said this was the most incredible transaction she’s ever witnessed!
While you may not be able to surprise someone at random with a Macy’s gift card, or have someone come up behind you and offer to pay for your purchase, you will find incredible deals at Macy’s all holiday season long.
