Day 8: Kindness
Chapter Title: The Need Next Door
Prayer Focus: Neighbors/Neighborhood
Before kids can cure the crises of the world, they need to discover the needs next door. While it may take a village to raise a child, the concept of community is rapidly disappearing from our culture.
Facilitating simple acts of kindness while still allowing kids the creativity to develop ideas of their own for how to give back forms the foundation of this final step of cultivating a new attitude toward others.
Mentor Mom Moment: In Chapter 8, we hear from Cindy Easley in a moment called, “Observing the Need Next Door”. Cindy shares an instance where a simple act of observation led to a kind act that eventually turned into a sweet relationship for her family.
Make it Practical: Sell & Give (garage sales) and Bake & Take: bless someone with a homemade treat (they won’t be used to someone knocking on their door and handing them something with no expectation of anything in return).
