September 19, 2014: Keep Your Change
Do you think like Benjamin Franklin? If not, here’s why you should start…
One of the biggest crimes I see people make in saving money is throwing away their change.
For some reason, people just don’t want to be bothered with it.
I’m here to set the record straight: coins are money too!
If you don’t believe me, just set a glass jar in your kitchen or wherever you first walk in the door to your home. Whenever you have coins, start adding them to the jar and you can literally watch your savings pile up.
This is also a great tangible way to get young children in the habit of saving money. You can even pay them a percentage of the jar when it fills up if they are willing to count and separate it for you to take to the bank!
