It Wasn’t Meant to Be {The Daily Dash: March 27, 2020}

IN MY LIFE:
I’ve spend a lot of time over the last two days getting creative, learning new things, and trying new ways to bring content to you. Unfortunately, after working on a project so diligently for the past 48 hours, something went really wrong today.
I was discouraged, disheartened, and frankly, a little embarrassed. I know nothing is reliable right now, including the internet and third party platforms, but that didn’t assuage my disappointment.
After about 30 minutes of trying to figure out what went wrong, my son happened to come in my office. I told him the short version of what just happened and, without missing a beat, his response to me was, “It’s OK mom, it must not have been meant to be.”
Even at his age, he was able to see through the situation and have the wisdom to essentially say, “C’est la vie: such is life.” He went on to assure me that if I’m meant to find the files, I will. If something is meant to be seen, it will be. If it’s not, it’s not.
There are a lot of disappointments happening all around us right now. I especially lament of all the high school seniors in the class I’m teaching who likely will not have a graduation ceremony, prom or final athletic season.
But through all of it, I need to remember that I can only control what I can control and I need to be obedient with what’s in front of me before I can grasp for more. I hope this encourages you the way my son’s words encouraged me today.
PRAYER FOCUS: Obedience
I pray each of us are good stewards of what we’ve been given, regardless of how much or how little.
