I’m not going to apologize.
I’m aware that I haven’t posted on social media all year (albeit that’s only about 12 days thus far). But if you’ve watched my Daily Dash, you know I’ve been working through some things. As such, it just didn’t feel right to post something on here that wasn’t an accurate portrayal of my life in its current state.
I also think I’ve hesitated posting anything because the picture above is something I’ve wanted to share to represent a bold move I took while at Soundwaves Nashville in the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, but I was terrified to post a picture of myself in a swimsuit.
I could make a lot of excuses (it’s January, I put on some holiday weight, etc), but the truth is I haven’t looked my best in a while now. Still, I was not about to let that stop me from exploring each and every inch of this beautiful waterpark with my family.
It was one thing to go on a waterslide and even surf on my belly and knees, but it was quite another to try to stand up and surf for the first time ever, much less in front of a crowd of onlookers! And let me just answer the questions I know you’re all thinking:
* Yes, I was nervous
* Yes, I did actually let go of her hand eventually…
* …and yes, I did wipe out about 3 seconds after I let go of her hand ? ?
But what you need to know is that the pride I felt of actually trying something new (especially in front of my son) outweighed all the fear and doubt. If I, as a 40+ year old mom of two, can try surfing for the first time in front of strangers, surely you can do something you’ve been afraid of trying.
I’ve yet to set goals for this year, I don’t have a word for 2019 and I still don’t know exactly what eating plan I’ve settled on to get healthier, but I do know I’m no longer going to allow what other people think of me to stand in my way.
What have you been putting off trying this year? Please share one of your dreams (notice I didn’t say “fears”) below so I can help cheer you on!
P.S. For all of you who have asked about my swimsuit, it’s from Cupshe and very affordable. You can find it here.
