Groupon Gift Certificates Don’t Show the Price
The first thing you should know is that Groupon gift certificates don’t show the price you paid. I’ve always said it’s not what you spend on a gift, it’s what it’s worth. If you happen to get something on sale, that just proves what a smart shopper you are!
Thankfully with Groupon, you know you’re always getting a great deal. We just don’t have to show the recipients what we actually paid.
Choose to Give Groupon as a Gift BEFORE You Purchase
One lesson I learned the hard way is that you need to designate your Groupon as a gift before you buy it.
Before adding the Groupon to your cart, make sure to push the button that says “Give as a Gift”. Once you do, you’ll discover there are multiple ways to deliver your gift.
One of the most popular options is to text or email the voucher. Not only do you not have to worry about shipping, the recipient will get their gift almost instantaneously. This is especially helpful if you’re trying to buy a last-minute gift.
How to Print a Groupon Voucher
As I just mentioned, there are several ways to gift a Groupon, including printing a certificate.
This may be the best option for you if you don’t want to show up to a party empty-handed. Or perhaps you want to make more of an impact in person with a personalized certificate,
Whatever the reason, Groupon lets you customize your card. You can choose from a number of personalized options, including:
- To & From fields
- Different holiday backgrounds
- Custom message
I chose to print my Groupon gift certificate on 8.5 x 11-inch cardstock and then cut it in half horizontally.

How to Redeem a Groupon Gift
Perhaps you ended up here because you were looking how to redeem a Groupon gift card you received. There are several ways to can take advantage of your gift voucher.
Chances are, the Groupon gift certificate will tell you how to redeem it. For an experience, you will likely need to call the vendor or go online to reserve an appointment.
If the Groupon is for a restaurant, you can take a printed certificate directly to the establishment or show them the code on your phone when you’re ready to pay.

Affordable Cooking Classes Near Me
One of my favorite things about Groupon is the affordable cooking classes near me I’ve discovered. I’m in Nashville, but thanks to Groupon Experiences, you can find these group cooking classes near you as well.
Not only does Groupon offer affordable cooking classes, I appreciate that you can purchase them as a single person. (They offer options for couples and groups of four too). This means that you can still plan a night out for yourself learning a new skill, but you know you won’t be alone.
Some of my favorite Groupon cooking classes explore international cuisines, such as:
You can watch me talk about my experience with giving a Groupon as a gift on The Sami Cone Show.
