I wish I had better news to share about the new Will Ferrell & Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy coming to Amazon Prime Video (and I use the word romantic loosely)…
Honest “You’re Cordially Invited” Movie Review {Daily Dash: January 24, 2025}
IN MY LIFE:
I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t rush out to see the new Amazon MGM Studios/Prime Video movie, “You’re Cordially Invited”. I’m a fan of both Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, but this film did not deliver consistently in either the fields of romantic or comedy. As much as I love them both individually, their connection just didn’t work for me.
It was obviously a scripted film, but at times it seemed like it verged into an unscripted/sketch comedy/improv feel, but not in a good way. There were also too many unbelievable and unnecessary subplots that made the whole thing feel contrived.
The film did feature some fun cameos from Peyton Manning and Nick Jonas, and Leanne Morgan as Reese’s older sister stole the show. Jack McBrayer was another cast standout. But these individual moments and performances did not save the film as a whole.
I wouldn’t plan a date night around this one, but if you have Amazon Prime, you can let me know if you feel it’s worth watching when it starts streaming globally on Prime Video on January 30, 2025

PRAYER FOCUS: Humility
When we offer to help someone, let’s do it with selflessness and integrity, without expecting anything in return. Likewise, may we be confident in the gifts we have without feeling the need to lift ourselves up.
