If you love seeing Wicked on Broadway, you’ll be blown away by the new Wicked movie in theaters! I’m sharing my honest Wicked movie review for you (plus some potential spoilers)…
Honest Wicked Movie Review {Daily Dash: November 19, 2024}
IN MY LIFE:
I don’t even know if it’s fair for me to call this a review because I LOVED this film. Literally. 100% positive. No reservations.
The cinematography, choreography, and costumes were incredible. The film stayed true to the stage production, but elevated every aspect of it.
Similar to Hamilton, I believe this film will now make this incredible show accessible to those who either couldn’t afford to see the stage production or never had the opportunity. Plus it allows those of us who love the show to watch it whenever we want.
You could tell the cast truly held this project in the highest esteem and to the highest standard. Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande shine as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. Their incredible voices gave me goose bumps both separately and in harmony. They’re joined by an amazing cast, including:
Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage, with Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum. The movie was directed by Jon Chu (Crazy Rich Asians).
SPOILER ALERT
Did you know this is just Part 1? It’s the literal first act from the stage production and we won’t get to see Part 2 until November 2025. How am I supposed to wait that long???
Also, get ready to fly out of your seats because both Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth make appearances in the film and sing together.
