Pharrell Williams has once again created something totally out of the box and this time we get to watch…
Honest Piece by Piece Review {Daily Dash: October 10, 2024}
IN MY LIFE:
Last night I attended a critics’ screening of the new Pharrell Williams LEGO movie, “Piece by Piece”. Yes, you heard that right, it’s a Pharrell movie done entirely in LEGO pieces…and I guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it.
It’s a documentary, but also incredibly entertaining. I also dare say all the celebrities that participated may have felt even more free because while you heard their voices, all we saw were the LEGO mini-figure versions of themselves.
And when I say celebrities, you won’t believe all the names involved in this project:
- Snoop Dogg
- Pusha T
- Gwen Stefani
- Justin Timberlake
- Timbaland
- Kendrick Lamar
- Jay-Z
- Busta Rhymes
- Missy Elliott
- Chad Hugo
- and so many more
Part inspirational, part informational, part educational and all LEGO fun, this movie format allowed Pharrell to showcase his life in a way that would have been impossible in any other medium.
In addition to the musical trip down memory lane, my favorite part may have been seeing some iconic rap videos (think “Rumpshaker”) recreated in LEGO pieces, complete with bikini-clad LEGO mini-figures by the ocean.
Piece by Piece arrives in theaters on Friday, October 11, 2024. It’s rated PG and you’ll hear the S-word twice, but otherwise it’s clean. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
