Is Indy’s final adventure worth the price of the ticket? Find out in my honest Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie review:
Honest Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Movie Review Recap
- The film starts with an action sequence we have come to expect, but with AI to transport Harrison Ford to the Indiana Jones of his younger days.
- The timeline is a bit confusing. I believe “present day” is in the ’70’s, while the opening scene takes place about 25 years prior.
- You’ll find plenty of nods to old quotes and everything you’ve come to love about Indiana Jones, but with a couple of tweaks (e.g. eels instead of snakes in one scene).
- There are also plenty of easter eggs throughout the film.
- Old friends return.
But if you pay attention to anything I say, hear this: the movie should have ended twenty minutes earlier. There is a scene/plot twist at the end of the movie that was just too unbelievable for me. (And I don’t mean that in a good way). The final scene didn’t even “wrap up” in a clear way.
You don’t need to have seen the prior Indiana Jones films to see this installment. If you absolutely want to see this in the movie theater, maybe grab one friend instead of the entire family.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is only in theaters for now and opened on June 30, 2023.
