Gaylord Hotels announce the new Dreamworks Experience!
After being invited to a surprise press conference at Gaylord Opryland on Wednesday and being promised visits by international guests, here’s what we saw:
Shortly after Shrek, Po (from Kung Fu Panda) & Alex and his penguin friends (from Madagascar) emerged on stage, Gaylord Hotels Chairman Colin Reed and Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg joined together on stage to unveil the new Dreamworks Experience coming to Gaylord Hotels.
As part of this strategic alliance, Gaylord plans to offer unique leisure experiences for its guests featuring DreamWorks iconic characters at all Gaylord properties. These experiences will include (but don’t seem to be limited to) character breakfasts, Christmas events, poolside activities, private birthday parties, parades, and other various themed entertainment.
In the words of Reed, Gaylord wants to “give families a reason to spend their vacation at Gaylord properties by giving award-winning experiences”. He recognized that “when budgets are tight, families make tough choices….but still want to create memories that last a lifetime. (The DreamWorks Experience) will provide fully customized experiences with characters we all know and love”.
Even Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam was on hand for the announcement, claiming that “when you have leisure time, there’s no better place to spend it than Tennessee”.
DreamWorks Animation characters will be integrated into existing Haylord Hotels’ holiday and summer offerings, which Gaylord believes will further increase the popularity of these highly successful, award-winning family offerings. Further details will be released in July with plans for events to begin Holiday 2011.
The one thing I do appreciate thus far is that all parties involved seem to understand that what appeals to a four year old does not necessarily appeal to a fourteen year old. They are prepared to tailor different aspects of the experience to different ages of children.
I feel very lucky that we have a place in Nashville in Gaylord Opryland that is equally optimal for a wonderful dinner or a weekend family getaway. I can’t wait to hear more about this DreamWorks experience and I promise to give you more details as I find out more!
