The 59th annual (FREE!) Nashville Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting is tonight (December 2, 2011)! Grand Marshall Vince Gill will lead more than 80 floats, marching bands and performing groups through downtown Broadway. But you’ll want to plan on arriving at 6:30pm before the parade starts to see Vince’s daughter, Jenny Gill, perform at the tree lighting ceremony at the Public Square before Vince, Mayor Karl Dean and others will kick off the parade!
Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. But what I love is that not only do you get to see a lot of your favorite Nashville personalities and teams, but it’s very ‘hands-on’, so to speak. Performers interact with the crowd, to the point of throwing candy and other goodies to the kids…and we all know happy kids = happy parents!
Titans Quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, will ride on a float with his family and the country group, Lunabelles, will also be in attendance.
Bottom line, if you’re looking for a great way to kick off the Christmas season with your family and really get in the spirit, you’ll want to be sure to join me and my family at the Nashville Christmas Parade!
