As fans of FamilyLife Today and the FamilyLife Ministry, it only seems fitting to share our experiences with you. From the FamilyLife Weekend to Remember to the Love Like You Mean It Marriage Cruise, we love it all. If you want “help for today and hope for tomorrow” when it comes to your family and marriage, FamilyLife has a message for you.
FamilyLife Today
The ministry of FamilyLife provides biblically-based help for every stage of your marriage and family journey. They offer incredible resources on parenting, blended families, and marriage.
FamilyLife is a ministry of Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). While we knew about FamilyLife before we got married because of friends that work with Cru, it wasn’t until our first year of marriage that we discovered just how much we needed FamilyLife’s resources.
Allow me to share our story of how we’ve become part of the FamilyLife family and the FamilyLife events that brought us there. (Plus, I have some great FamilyLife discounts to share so you can connect and get away with FamilyLife too!)
FamilyLife Weekend to Remember
The FamilyLife Weekend to Remember Marriage Getaway takes place from Friday night to Sunday at Noon. While they typically take place once per year per city, there are over 95 locations throughout the year.
The format of each WTR is similar, but because different speaking teams lead each event, the experience always differs. Even though we have attended almost a dozen of these events, we learn something unique each time. Much like reading the Bible where different verses speak to you at different times based on where your life is, the same is true of these marriage getaways.
We won our first FamilyLife Weekend to Remember through a radio contest the first year of our marriage. We immediately knew we wanted to volunteer with FamilyLife and have been ever since.
FamilyLife Love Like You Mean It Cruise
How do I adequately express how we feel about the FamilyLife Love Like You Mean It Cruise? After separating for 10 months in 2013, the 2014 LLYMI cruise was where we renewed our marriage vows.
We’ve been on multiple cruises since then and have LOVED every single one. I’ll admit, I initially worried about some of the ships we booked on, but each ended up being great.
You see, FamilyLife buys out the ENTIRE ship. That means every person on the ship is there for the same reason. While a cruise filled with Christian married couples may not be everyone’s idea of a good time, we love it. It’s powerful. And because this FamilyLife event takes place on a cruise, it allows even more opportunity to connect with each other. (We find people leave you alone when you tell them you’re going on a cruise). Plus, because it’s so hard to get on WiFi, you spend more time talking to each other than scrolling on your phones.
In addition to all the amenities of the cruise ship and ports, FamilyLife brings incredible speakers and performers on board. The LLYMI cruise takes place over Valentine’s Week each February and is typically 7 days and 6 nights.
My husband and I make daily videos during each cruise. So rather than try to tell you about the marriage cruise, you can watch our daily recaps below:
