September 11, 2014: Ask for Sibling Discounts
Curious how families with multiple kids can afford extra-curricular activities and lessons? I have some insights on that topic…
It can be expensive to send kids to camps, music lessons and sports teams, but even more so if you have more than one child.
The first thing you need to do is ask if they offer sibling discounts. Even if your kids aren’t taking the same class, find a gym or music center that offers a variety of activities or lessons that would appeal to multiple kids.
Another tip I’ve employed is to barter with the organization. Do you write well? Offer to help with their newsletter. Are you a great photographer? Offer to take team photos in exchange for your child’s participation. When you can prove your value, there’s always a way to make it work AND help your kids in the process!
