Any of you who have been to one of my savings seminars know that one of my deeply profound savings suggestions is, “Just Ask!”. I know, you think I’m brilliant. Truth is, I stole the concept from the Bible. John 16: 23-24 says:
I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to infer that all my luck comes from asking God to bless my contest entries, but I do believe strongly that you never know until you try.
That leads me to yesterday. I took the kids to Macy’s to use my $10 gift card I got on Halloween (for being one of the first 100 people to arrive) that was about to expire, and I found myself in the middle of a Tennessee Titans fan fest! I unknowingly rode up the escalator with the #1 draft pick (with the last name of Britt, which I only found out later because he signed an autograph for Britton!), learned that their mascot is a raccoon (which somehow seems even worse than my daughter’s elementary school mascot – a hound dog) and managed to win more Macy’s gift cards!
No, I didn’t win the raffle they were holding. I actually went outside with the kids to the inflatable slide and noticed the 102.5 Radio truck. While the kids were putting themselves through a mock football drill for people under 4 feet tall, I met Scotty O’Brien and asked, “Are you guys doing any giveaways today?” He asked who I was there with, and I promptly pointed out Fancy Nancy and Peter Pan (we had just come from the Borders Fancy Nancy storytime, not that we need an excuse to wear costumes in our house!). I guess we won the “Best Costumes not on Halloween” contest, because he presented us with another Macy’s gift card! What an amazing blessing to top off an amazing day with my kids. After working a long week, all I wanted was to spend some quality time with my kiddos, and now I’ll be able to get some help with my Christmas shopping too!
A big thanks to Scotty and the crew at 102.5 – you truly made the parking lot a party and I appreciate your southern hospitality (though it would be my guess you’re not a native to the south). Just one more reason I love being in Nashville now!

Ah, I love when things work out so beautifully like that. Congrats! And I agree wholeheartedly with your mantra of asking, especially when it comes to prayer! But it definitely rang true here too, which is awesome. 🙂
