All the Light We Cannot See Review {Daily Dash: October 24, 2023}
IN MY LIFE:
Last night, I was invited to a screening of the first episode of “All the Light We Cannot See”, a four-part Netflix series coming out on November 2. It’s directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) and stars Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Laurie, and Louis Hoffman. But the real star of the show is the reason you should watch this series.
Newcomer Aria Mia Loberti plays the lead role of Marie Laure. Not only is her character blind, so is she. Before we watched the episode, they showed us a package about how the found Aria, who had never acted before. The project was so committed to finding a visually impaired woman in the role that they literally looked at thousands of tapes.
The fact that Aria could not only embrace this role so beautifully, but step into this challenge so fearlessly, makes you want to keep watching. It’s a thing to behold.
I loved hearing everyone’s perspective on the show, from the music to the cinematography. And if you haven’t read this NYT best-seller yet, you can also pick it up on Amazon.
