I need to go on a tiny rant today.
I realize I teach public speaking, so perhaps it irks me more than most when people who speak aren’t prepared, don’t test out their equipment, or start making excuses before they even begin their presentation. But when these things happen after I’ve taken time out of my day to come hear you, it really drives me nuts.
And don’t even get me started on when public speakers curse.
I know, everyone has their own style. And some people may have been asked to speak, knowing it wasn’t their forte, but they have incredible information to share.
But when you’re there to promote yourself, your book or your product and expect those in attendance to help you do that, you need to have the goods to back it up.
I realize I’m not perfect (as a human being or a speaker!) and have certainly made my fair share of mistakes while on a stage, but it really does drive me nuts.
All that to say, whether or not you’re in the public eye, PLEASE do everything you can to add MORE value than expected in whatever you do and/or say today. The world will thank you.
PRAYER FOCUS: Value
As I just mentioned, I pray you add value to ALL those around you today, not matter who you are or what you do for a living.
