“According to your faith will it be done to you” – Matt 9:29
When I was listening to the radio yesterday morning, I heard a phrase come out of the host that was so simple yet so true. He said, “We become what we believe”. In other words, if we have impure or evil thoughts running around in our head, eventually those are going to affect our soul. However, if we dwell on things that are good and of the nature of Christ, we will come closer to resembling those things.
In Matthew 9:29 we are told that things will happen according to our faith. What does that mean? I’ve already talked about how important it is to expect results when you pray, but before we can expect results from someone, we must believe they are capable of delivering those results. The faith talked about in that verse translated in Greek is “pistis” in Christ. We must put our faith, our trust, our belief, our “pistis’ in that person.
Do you believe He is able to work miracles? Do you believe He is able to heal the sick? Earlier in Matthew 9:22 one woman believed and Jesus said to her, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.”
Where do you trust your faith? In whom do you believe? According to that belief are the results you can expect to see manifested in your own life.
