IN MY LIFE:
Well, I have an announcement to make today: we have a new member of our family. The fact that it coincides with National Pet Day is a beautiful coincidence. Are you ready?
We got a new puppy!
I know, I know…I can already hear what you’re saying:
Sami, you’re not an animal person.
Aren’t you allergic to dogs?
Don’t you love the freedom of leaving on a trip at a moment’s notice?
All the above are true. However, this is a decision years in the making. I think my daughter made her first PowerPoint presentation trying to convince us to adopt a dog about 7 years ago. We fostered a dog once, but the kids were too young to truly assume the care of the animal and it turned out it wasn’t hypoallergenic.
Three things tipped the tables for us at this particular time of our lives:
1. Our son turned up the pressure for his birthday (and was willing to put his money where his mouth is)
2. A friend and a counselor told us that one of the best thing you can do to help teenagers’ ever-changing emotions is to bring a dog into the home.
3. Someone we new reached out to us letting us know they had Yorkie puppies!
So we proudly introduce you to Bella. It’s been a learning curve for sure, but a sweet one. Like anything in life, nothing is guaranteed. We still have a lot of questions, so I may be asking y’all for help along the way.
Help me welcome baby Bella to our family!
PRAYER FOCUS: Patience
As we’re learning with any new life-change, patience truly is a virtue, and I pray it’s one you put into practice today.
