Honest Moulin Rouge Tour Review {Daily Dash: October 9, 2024}
IN MY LIFE:
The Tennessee Performing Arts Center invited me to attend opening night of the touring production of Moulin Rouge last night. Sure, I saw the movie years ago, but I honestly had no idea what to expect of the live show.
From the first note, it was high-octane and constant entertainment. Like Mamma Mia, you’ll likely know all the songs as they weave (mostly 90’s) hits throughout the entire musical. The opening scene of Act 2 was my favorite and you’ll be treated to the iconic “Lady Marmalade” at least twice.
A fellow audience member commented it wasn’t raunchy, but it certainly wasn’t demure. I felt slightly uncomfortable sitting next to the 9-year-old in attendance with her parents considering the female performers weren’t wearing much clothing and contorted their bodies in various positions. So just keep that in mind before bringing kids and tweens.
The show also went a little longer than most (about two hours and forty minutes including the intermission). If you’re ready to sing and dance along, make sure to get your tickets since Moulin Rouge is only in Nashville through October 20.
