Summer is in full swing! From hot chicken to cool sundresses, I’m sharing some of my favorite people, places and products with you on today’s show.
First, you’ll come with me to Chicken Guy in downtown Nashville for a conversation with Guy Fieri to find out why he loves Music City so much and why he’s traveling through Tennessee with family and friends in RVs.
Then, we are going to crack up with local writer and comedienne, Kelly Bandas. Her first book, Rookie Mistakes, is helping us find humor in life’s difficult moments and perhaps explain why it’s so hard to find mom friends.
Next, I’m chatting with Christian recording artist Colton Dixon to discuss his latest single, a new TV show, and what makes his family dynamic so unique.
Finally, I’m showing off and trying on the hottest dresses of summer so you know exactly what to pack and wear on your next vacation.
Episode 34 of The Sami Cone Show aired on Friday, July 8, 2022, and re-aired on Saturday, July 9.

Chicken Guy Nashville
I caught up with Food Network Star Guy Fieri during his latest visit to his Chicken Guy restaurant in downtown Nashville and learned why he’s been driving around Tennessee in an RV for the past two weeks with friends and family.
Rookie Mistakes Author & Comedienne
I caught up with writer & comedienne Kelly Bandas to learn about her first book, Rookie Mistakes. The popular video creator finds humor in the most mundane of moments, especially when it comes to parenting.

You know Colton Dixon from American Idol, but what he’s done in the decade since has surpassed even his own dreams. In this video interview with Colton, he discusses the special family life he grew up in, how his marriage to Annie blesses him, and what it’s like being a dad of identical twin girls.
ABLE Sundress Collection
ABLE sent me a selection of some of their best-selling sundresses to try-on, along with a few other top clothing favorites. I’m sharing how everything fit, along with my favorites. I also show you my must-have tote bag and shoes of the season.

Before I Go, I Need You to Know: Embrace Today
I’ve seen a lot of mom jokes on social media lately, but they all seem to have a similar theme: parents can’t wait for summer to get here so they can relax, but then we spend all summer in a car shuttling our kids back and forth to various activities, parties, and playdates!
If we’re not careful to set aside time for ourselves and plan intentionally with our families, we can become more divided than we are during the school year.
Last week, my daughter had a big decision to make about college and I knew she couldn’t make the choice wisely without a visit. Ironically, we all had 2 consecutive days free.
Now normally, I’d never suggest driving 16 hours round-trip to a destination when we only had 48 hours in total. But in this case, I knew the journey together would be as meaningful as the destination itself… And I was right.
The fact that I was willing to drop everything and get in the car not only showed my kids how deep my love is for them, but we made memories none of us will forget. And yes, we also ultimately made that difficult college decision on the drive home.
Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us that God will never leave us nor forsake us.
As I’m about to launch my first child into her college years, I also needed her to know that no matter where she goes, I will always be there for her and we will always be close by in each other’s hearts.
So while you may not be able to take an unexpected road trip this weekend, I challenge you to examine how you can embrace today in your own way.

Wardrobe Sponsor: Lilly Pulitzer
This month I knew exactly what I wanted from Lilly Pulitzer as soon as a saw the alert on my Lilly Pulitzer App about their new arrivals. Although I tried on a few other options, I ultimately went home with what I knew I’d love: the Rainna Smocked Eyelet Dress.
I love the simplicity and flow of this style. The smocking on the chest and wrists is a flattering and fun detail. Plus I love the light blue denim color of the dress with the coral eyelet detailing. Even though this is part of their summer collection, I can see wearing this well into the fall with boots and even a light jacket.
Jewelry Sponsor: Kendra Scott
Once I showed my dress to Alyssa at Kendra Scott Green Hills, we both agreed we needed to create a special set of earrings to wear. We went to work at the Color Bar and created these two-stone masterpieces.
We also selected a sun necklace and sun ring from their Summer 2 collection. Because of the square neckline, we also added the medallion double-strand necklace to complete the styling.
Here are direct links to the Kendra Scott pieces I wore on my July show:
- Sienna Gold Half Sun Pendant Necklace in Citrus Kyocera Opal
- Harper Multi Strand Necklace in Gold
- Sienna Gold Sun Ring Set in Citrus Kyocera Opal
- Shiela Hoop Earrings created in the Color Bar with Dichroic Glass & Citrine stones
