There are even more international festivals in Nashville in September and I received an email from a colleague of mine at Lipscomb University that summed it up so well, I wanted to share it with you.
Our family went to the Greek festival last weekend and not only was it a GORGEOUS night (in the 50’s!), our kids – while initially hesitant – enjoyed witnessing a culture other than their own, trying new food (especially the desserts) and browsing the artisan booths.
Here is the email I received from Charlie McVey:
Your passport to the world starts at the end of this short week in a big way in the Middle Tennessee area with at least 4 international cultural festivals this coming weekend . . . and additional multicultural events occurring over the next 8 weekends.
I’ll keep you posted at the beginning of each week so that you can experience and enjoy cultures from Africa, Greece, Germany, Scotland, Ireland as well as Native America.
If any of you learn of additional international events in our area, please pass them on to me so we can inform the campus.

Herr McVey’s Picks o’ the Week:
With so many opportunities this weekend, I would suggest in particular:
* the Greek Festival for Friday evening or Sunday afternoon,
(close, inexpensive and very authentic!)
* the Middle TN Highland Games which only occurs on Saturday
(a vital resurrection of this Scottish festival for our area)
. . the VOLKSFEST can wait will be on also the next weekend (18-19-20 SEP 15),
plus there are two more German Oktoberfests coming up in October.
To have peoples of other countries celebrating among us their customs, costumes, crafts and culinary specialties over these next few weekends gives us a fleeting opportunity to learn, share and form relationships. Don’t miss out! Enjoy!!
(Next Weekend . . . 33rd African Street Festival in Hadley Park)
(. . . 1860s Civilian Living History Reenactment at Buchanan Log House/Donelson)
