paul mitchell school nashville review

I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve highlighted my hair. So when I wanted to do a little beauty update for summer, I thought a cut and highlight would be the way to do it. But there was no way I was going to spend $100 or more to do it…

I’ve always been a proponent of hair schools for budget-friendly hair care, but sometimes you can’t always trust the quality. So when I learned of Paul Mitchell the School Nashville, I was thrilled to learn there was a salon for future professionals that had the reputation of Paul Mitchell associated with it.

Yes, I said salon.

Based on previous ‘beauty school’ experiences, I was expecting a bland, boring, warehouse environment. Walking into Paul Mitchell the School Nashville – I found the exact opposite!

Posing in the salon with the fabulous Future Professionals who made me relaxed and beautiful!

Do you notice the bright greens and modern fixtures in the picture above? I literally had my breath taken away when I walked in and was greeted by a professional receptionist in this stylish facility.

I thought I was just going to pop in for a cut and partial highlights (which only costs $30 by the way…yes, only $30!), but I ended up getting treated to a half day of beauty.

Paul Mitchell the School Nashville services also include a full range of facials, massages and more. Because of my limited time, I experienced a mini-facial (which lasted about 20 minutes) and I would return again just for that. Not only was it well done, it was amazingly relaxing. The only critique is that they don’t have private rooms for aesthetics, so while you’ll still experience the calming spa music, your service is being performed in an open treatment space.

Still, a small price to pay for such beauty…literally – it’s a SMALL price you’ll be paying for great service.

Most locations even offer free haircuts and other services to help future stylists receive training on certain days.

After my mini-facial, Kenya came and did my makeup while Dani finished my hair. I thought I was just getting a cut, but look at the amazing style Dani gave me with summer waves:

Can you stand how cute this is???

I have always dreamed of having a beach wave tousled up-do like this and POOF! there it was! My only regret is that I didn’t get to watch how Dani accomplished this feat because the lovely Kenya was making my face beautiful at the same time.

All in all, it was an amazing experience. Any reservations I had about going to a student literally melted away the minute I walked in and met the director, instructors and future professionals.

I wasn’t sure where there was one in Nashville. Since the salon I use is close to me, I just haven’t looked beyond there. But I love facials & massages–just can’t get them because of the price. I’m going to check their prices out–may be worth the trip!

The time that students take has always been a factor; these days, I’m lucky to pop in Great Clips for a fifteen minute trim. HOwever, I’d love to set aside time for color and a facial would be divine! Glad to know about Paul Mitchell Nashville.

How fun! I’ve never been to a beauty school salon before mostly because I’ve always been afraid of the level of skill. Sounds like I need not worry about that.

Love how your look turned out (also how stylist the girls are that work there! Love that lilac hair color).

They truly walked the walk! Yes – the one with the lilac hair was Dani who did my hair – I wish I was braver to try it myself!

I have always been afraid that I wouldn’t get the same level of service that I do at my current salon. I don’t usually get crazy with hairstyles and always stick to the same old same old every time. I like knowing what I will look like when I leave and can’t envision how a new look will look on me. I would like to check them out for highlights…it would really help on my stay at home Mom budget. I have never done them as they cost too much :). Thanks for the info!

You bet Jenni! I’ve had the same concerns, but there are professional instructors circulating around the salon checking in the entire time. You can also choose what level of stylist you prefer there. I was genuinely so pleased with both their pleasant and professional attitudes AND their level of experience!
