National Shoebox Week Toiletries

November 19, 2014: National Shoebox Collection Week: Toiletries

We’re halfway through national Shoebox Collection Week with one of the most needed shoebox items today…

While it’s important to include the fun stuff in your shoeboxes, personal hygiene items are essential. When visiting Ecuador with Operation Christmas Child last year, I brought a bag of toothbrushes with me to hand out and people crowded around me like I was handing out money.

One of the best tips I heard from team members was to collect travel items you’d normally receive from staying at a hotel, like bar soap and combs. Often times, an entire family will have to share these items. Just make sure not to pack any liquid or lotions.

By collecting what might be an afterthought to you, you’ll be making a lasting impact in a family overseas for months!

The Family Money Minute is made possible by Operation Christmas Child, who reminds us that by saving money, we can make a bigger impact on the lives of needy children around the world.
