Laundry Savings

One way to really cut back on your monthly budget is to save money on something you do all the time…like laundry! Laundry savings can happen in a variety of ways, but here are just a few I want you to think about:

* I’ve considered making my own laundry detergent, but even though I had the raw materials, I never had time to actually make and store it! That’s why when it comes to detergent, I want to use something that is both a great value and something natural to be on my family’s skin. I think that’s why I’ve appreciated getting to try ARM & HAMMER Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent: the unique gel formula is a powerful blend of the ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda I trust and the supercharged OxiClean stain fighters…plus right now you can print a coupon to save $1 on 3 ARM & HAMMER laundry products.

*We’ve also switched to a HE washing machine (another reason to love the ARM & HAMMER- it has an HE formula!). When shopping for a new machine a few years ago, we found an HE machine that was the same price as standard machines because it was still top-loading instead of the more stylish front loaders…but we didn’t care, it’s hidden in a closet anyway! We also went with a lesser known brand, but one that had double the warranty as more popular brands.

*Shorten your dryer energy time (& ironing time) by taking clothes out halfway through the cycle. If you take them out and hang them up right away, you’ll shorten your dryer time (thereby saving energy & saving money), plus you won’t have to iron as many of your clothes!

*Try not to over-stuff your washer & dryer, but at the same time, try not to do super small loads – neither are very cost effective!

*Remember, time is money, so get people to help you! Whether it’s having kids help fold after laundry is out of the dryer, or getting your family on board by making sure clothes are sorted properly and turned right side out before being put in the laundry basket.

Little changes in your laundry routine can make a big change in your wallet, so what are you waiting for? Start your laundry savings today!
